The climate in Bago is tropical, with most months of the year seeing significant rainfall. Most of the residents are Burma, Chinese, Indian, Mon, Shan, and Kayin.Most of the people use Burmese language as a mother language.

The Burmese name Bago is derived from the Mon language place name Bagaw. Bago is well known for its Buddhist temples and pagodas. The other popular cities are Taungoo and Pyay.Pyay is famous for Pyu ancient cities designated as UNESEO sites. The visitors can travel these destinations by bus.

The best time to visit Bago is during October and February's cooler and dry months. During these months, you can enjoy many outdoor activities without having to worry about the weather. Bago can be reached by train or bus from Yangon. The journey takes approximately two hours by car. Taxis and rental cars are also available. There is a bus station in Bago which serves most cities in Myanmar. Tuk-tuks are also a popular means of transportation in Bago. You can find them easily around the city, and they are a great way to get around and see the sights. The fare is negotiable, so be sure to haggle a bit before you agree to a price. Bikes and cars are also available for rent in Bago.
The main economy of Bago region is the timber trade. Taungoo is located in the northern end of the Bago Region, bordered by mountain ranges. The area is home to teak and other hardwoods, making it an important center for timber production.The Bago region is served by Pyay Airport. The capital city of the Bago region is Bago, formerly known as Hanthawaddy, which was once the capital of the Burmese-Mon Kingdom. Bago is the fourth largest town in the country.
